Tabletop System
The tabletop system is a third of the price and takes up a fraction of the space of the Microwave Lens System. This system uses specially designed dielectric probe antennas to characterize a material specimen with microwave energy and can replace the industry standard laboratory lens system. The microwave transmission and reflection are measured, including both amplitude and phase, which then determines the intrinsic dielectric and/or magnetic properties of a material specimen.
Applications of the Tabletop System:
Like the Microwave Focused Beam System, the tabletop can characterize dielectric and magnetic properties, but with a much smaller footprint.
Benefits of the Tabletop System:
- Determine the transmission and/or reflection performance of a material.
- Calculate a material’s intrinsic properties (dielectric permittivity, magnetic permeability, and/or sheet impedance).
- Portable system that can be taken out of the laboratory and into the field or into a manufacturing facility.
- Versatile and easy to use with multiple specimen types and sizes.
- RF spot probes can be removed and used as hand-held measurement devices on specimens that are too large to fit in the frame.
- Lightweight, small footprint device that can be carried by one person to any location.
Additional Information:
- Length: 19 inches
- Width: 17 inches
- Weight: 14 oz.
- Connector: SMA port (rear)
- Frequency range: 2.5-20 GHz
- Can be paired with the following items: AMMP Probes, including SP218 (2.5-20 GHz), SP324 (3-24 GHz), and SP2040 (20-40 GHz) probes.
Optional Upgrades:
CTGcalc™ provides intuitive capabilities to immediately determine and view measured performance and intrinsic properties of materials.
Benefits of CTGcalc™ Base Software:
- Acquires S-parameter data and performs calibrations, including time domain gating.
- Plots transmission (insertion loss) and/or reflection (reflection loss) versus frequency.
- Conducts material property inversion algorithms for calculating complex permittivity, permeability, and sheet impedance.

- Includes CTG’s patented autocal algorithm for correcting RF cable drift errors.
- One year software support and upgrades.
- Requires Windows 10 or newer.

Unlike other systems, the lenses in the microwave and millimeter wave focused beam systems are separate from the feeds. This allows the same lens to be used with a variety of commercial feed antennas to cover an extremely wide frequency range.
The tabletop system can be supplied with microwave probes (AMMP SP218 or SP324) and/or 20-40 GHz millimeter wave probes (SP2040).
Typical Feed Horn Ranges:
- Choose from a variety of frequency range upgrades:
- 2-32 GHz horns (standard)
- 4-40 GHz horns
- 6-60 GHz horns
- 60-90 GHz horns with extenders
- 75-110 GHz horns with extenders
